Promoting healthy lifestyles for those 50 and older in Salina, Kansas
Salina Healthy Lifestyles, a division of the Saline County Commission on Aging, is
dedicated to helping Salinans 50 and older maintain and improve their physical health,
mental capacity, emotional wellbeing, and social network as they grow older.
We are located in the Salina Senior Center, a historic, three-story, 1910-vintage limestone building at 245 N.
Ninth Street. It features marble-clad walls in the grand staircase and halls. The building, once used as the Saline
County courthouse, has been designated by the city of Salina as a Heritage Landmark. Our main entrance, which
is accessible to those with disabilities, is off the parking lot at the rear of the building.
The Salina Senior Center is open on weekdays, excluding holidays, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
We schedule wide-ranging programs and education events to promote physical activity, nutrition, health and
social development.
About the Saline County Commission on Aging:
The commission, although created by the Saline County Board of Commissioners in the early 1970s, operates
under its own administrative structure. The commission is funded partly by the county, but also relies heavily on
fees for services and donations.
Salina Healthy Lifestyles is one of two divisions of the Commission on Aging; the other, Live At Home Solutions,
offers programs to help residents maintain independence in their own homes as they age.
