Meals On Wheels
Healthy Meals Delivered By Community Volunteers : Since 1970, the Meals On Wheels program has provided nutritious meals to homebound persons in Salina. At the present time, volunteers deliver approximately 200 hot noon meals every weekday to all Salina neighborhoods. Volunteers also deliver hundreds of frozen meals every month to Meals On Wheels customers for evening, weekend and holiday meals.
Who delivers the meals? More than 200 community volunteers take turns delivering Meals On Wheels. Volunteers deliver meals 3-5 times every 6 weeks. Volunteers spend about 45 minutes delivering meals on their scheduled days.
What is included in a typical meal? Most meals include an entrée, two vegetable or fruit side dishes, bread, dessert, and milk.
